High performance 5" quad I fly regularly for fun and FPV video work.
• Carbon Frame: Built on the SpeedyBee Master 5 V2 carbon frame for max performance and durability for real-world flying.
• Optimized Setup: Applied learnings from my previous drone builds to choose components that match my needs: power, reliability, and stable/clean video.
• Real-World Use: I fly this quad regularly for freestyle practice and client FPV video work.
• Safety Setup: Configured GPS Rescue, failsafe behavior, and return settings to make crashes and signal loss less risky.
• Rates + PID Feel: Dialed in rates and PID behavior through test flights to get a locked-in feel that matches my flying style.
• Control Link Profiles: Built radio link profiles for different flight types: long-range stability vs fast, responsive freestyle, by adjusting RX settings like packet rate, power, and frequency.
• Telemetry Configuration: Configured telemetry data connection to my radio for live battery/signal information and live GPS coordinates for easier recovery after a crash.
• Electronics Mounts: Designed and iterated TPU mounts to cleanly package and protect key components while keeping the build easy to service.
• GPS Placement: Positioned the GPS away from carbon and high-noise electronics to improve satellite lock and reliability.
• ELRS Antenna Layout: Mounted diversity receiver antennas in different orientations (horizontal + vertical) for more consistent link performance and penetration.
• O3 Antenna Position: Elevated the O3/VTX antenna above the stack for better signal clearance, range, and durability.
• Insta360 Mount: Built a horizontal camera mount to improve weight balance and keep the quad feeling more stable in flight.
• Open Source: Published these models for free on my MakerWorld to contribute back to the FPV community.
